Kath and Rosa's Story
After selling vintage on depop for 3 years Kath & Rosa began designing & manufacturing their own clothes in 2023.
They now only sell their own designs, which was always the dream and a big move for them. They used their experience with selling vintage clothing to inform their design and production process.
“All our clothes are made in London from deadstock & natural fabrics and we primarily use a pre-order model meaning we produce in limited runs and avoid over production.”
Now a team of 5, with 3 employees who work from their studio space in London Kath and Rosa are proud of the strong, global customer base that they have built up and this has been pivotal to their success.
“70% of our sales are international and we see it as a huge achievement that we have been able to reach customers from the other side of the world, despite the challenges faced with cross border selling. Although it may seem small, one of our biggest milestones has been seeing people out & about in our clothes. We always used to talk about how it would feel to see people on the streets of London in our jeans and now it is actually happening on a regular basis.”
Looking to the future, they aim to grow as much as possible whilst still enjoying what they do and without compromising on core values. Kath and Rosa hope to move to more in person selling, more pop-up shops and maybe even their first permanent store.
“Spark helped us with both the money and guidance to launch our first ever design back in 2022. This design remains to this day our bestseller and we now stock it in 11 different fabrics. We are forever grateful for the support and confidence that the team at Spark gave us to start manufacturing our own designs and the ongoing support we have received since then.”
