Charlie Eke's Story
Charlie Eke has recently finished a three-year Economics course at the University of Leeds, and alongside that, started a business with his dad called The Ultimate Space.
Charlie came up with the idea because he wanted to buy a garden workspace during lockdown, but the market choice was uninspiring. Offices were built to look good but made from cheap wood and not built to last. So, he designed The Hex, a workspace made from steel and aluminium that can be set up or taken down in under four hours. It's solid, practical, and built to last.
It took a year to get the product ready, and then launched at the end of 2023. Since then, he has been focused on spreading the word and growing awareness. But he hit a challenge: he didn't have any good footage that actually shows how the Hex works—and how satisfying it is to use.
“Spark gave us the funding and support to create a short film that shows off the Hex properly. Now we've got something we're proud to share on our website and with future customers. I'm really grateful to the whole team at Spark. Their help has made a huge difference—not just with funding, but with the confidence it's given me as we keep growing the business.”
